Every day on my way to work I walk past an art shop. In the window they have the most beautiful paintings by an artist called Karl Martens. He paints birds, but focuses on the negative space around the bird taking inspiration from Chinese art. They’re so expressive.

You can buy some of his paintings here and here, but be warned, they are expensive.

Once Wed Ombre Napkins

I’ve been looking at these all day, trying to think of an occasion that would be worthy of their beauty. They really are gorgeous, especially with those beautifully subtle flower arrangements. If my dining table looked like this then I would be truly happy.

This is a blog for my spare time. A blog to celebrate the things that I and many others enjoy:
Eating – there’s nothing quite like a good meal, whether at a restaurant or served at home. I’ve been to a few good restaurants here and there, which I will write about in due course. I’ll also share some of my recipes for a good home-cooked meal.
Baking – the more indulgent side of eating. This isn’t our of necessity, but sheer gluttony. Not that that’s a bad thing. For the most part, I bake because I enjoy the process. For example, I’ve recently discovered that producing an almost flawless batch of macarons is delightful. In this category I’ll be sharing more of my recipes, a few photos and tips. Admittedly, I’m not an expert, but we all have to start somewhere.
Crafts – undoubtedly the most time intensive of my self-imposed categories. Still, crafting is something I’ve always enjoyed. I have a few projects for which I’d like to post tutorials.

I’m sure I won’t be able to keep this up regularly for very long, but I’ll do my best for now.

Thank you for reading.

Good night.
